About us

Pluvia is a small company that makes one supplement.

It started with a specific, unglamorous observation: people who spend nine hours a day focusing on a screen have a problem that the supplement aisle answers badly. The eye-health shelf is built around lutein and zeaxanthin, which accumulate in the macula and filter light. That’s a real mechanism. It’s just not the one that makes your eyes ache at six in the evening. That’s a muscle, held in one position all day.

Astaxanthin acts on that muscle and on blood flow in the retina. The studies closest to how our customers actually spend their days used 4 mg and 6 mg. So we put 12 mg in a bottle, on its own, with nothing else in it, and we wrote down what the research does and doesn’t show.

What we decided not to do

The competitive set in this category makes claims about macular degeneration, cataracts and vision loss. Those claims work. They’re why some of these brands are growing fast. We’re not making them. Not as a marketing position, but because they’re claims about disease that a supplement isn’t allowed to make and that we can’t substantiate.

The same decision runs through the rest of the site. We don’t write “clinically proven”, because our evidence is well-targeted but thin. We don’t run a countdown timer. We won’t publish a review we didn’t earn. The empty review section on the product page is empty because it’s supposed to be, and it says so.

What we’d tell you if you asked

That this might not work for you. That the research on astaxanthin and eye fatigue is real but small: a handful of studies, mostly Japanese, mostly modest in size. That we think it’s better targeted than the alternatives and we can show you why, but that “better targeted” is not the same as “certain”.

That’s why the guarantee is ninety days.
